How to Make Google Talk Invisible

The Google Talk feature includes an "invisible" status for users who want to keep the Google Talk software open but do not want to show up as "online" to other users. This feature is typically used when you are busy and do not want people to IM you. The status is set in your Google Talk software or the Chat section of your Gmail account.

1

Open your Google Talk desktop software or open a Web browser and log in to your Gmail account.

2

Hover your mouse over your username in the Google Talk software or in the left panel where your name shows in the list of Gmail contacts under the Chat section.

3

Click "Invisible" in the drop-down box. Your status is set to "Invisible" to all users who have you in their contact list.

Repeat these steps and choose a new status to remove the "Invisible" status.
